JOIN US! – What to Expect
Not sure what to expect? Relax, we will walk you through it step-by-step. Jill’s House accepts children ages 6 to 17 who have been diagnosed with an intellectual disability.
The Weekend Program
Our weekends start with drop off on Friday evening and end with pickup on Sunday evening. Children stay for two nights. To give families a consistent break and to connect children to a consistent group of caregivers, children come for a weekend once a quarter.
Although a child’s overnight stay complete with specialized medical care costs Jill’s House roughly $600 per night, most families pay just a fraction of the cost. Generous donors supplement the remaining costs. Your intake coordinator will discuss costs of care directly with you to explore available resources and programs available to you.
The Weeknight Program
Schools in Northern Virginia, Maryland and Washington, DC partner with Jill’s House to provide weekly respite care to families and caregivers. Jill’s House picks up children from participating schools, brings them to Jill’s House and returns them to school the next morning. Children get a slumber party with their school friends, and parents get a night to themselves during the week. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, families pay just a fraction of the total cost of the program. If your school is interested in participating, please contact Dana Hecht at email@example.com.
We currently have a wait list and encourage you to start the intake process when your child turns 5 ½ years old. Start the registration process for your child by clicking here:
Days at Jill’s House
When school is closed for holidays or teacher work days, Jill’s House is probably open. Families who have been accepted to the Jill’s House Weekend and Weeknight programs will receive notification about Days at Jill’s House programs.
