The Annual Starr Lecture
Celebrating Children with Intellectual Disabilities
The Starr Lecture is an annual event that celebrates children with intellectual disabilities and honors the legacy of Ken and Alice Starr, who were instrumental in the launch of Jill’s House in 2010. Guests of this invitation-only gathering enjoy a reception and dinner program featuring the experiences of families raising kids with intellectual disabilities.
The Honorable Kenneth W. Starr had a distinguished career in law, academia and public service. He served as Counselor and Chief of Staff to the Attorney General of the United States, as a Judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit, as Solicitor General of the United States and as Independent Counsel for five investigations. Ken was also President and Chancellor of Baylor University and Dean of the Pepperdine School of Law.
Alice M. Starr is CEO of Starr Strategies Co., a consulting firm which assists non-profit organizations with marketing, fundraising and public relations. She and Ken were married for 52 years and were blessed with three married children and nine grandchildren.
